The architecture of Museum Plaza lifts art out of the single-purpose, institutional setting and places it into the everyday world, fostering new ways of experiencing both art and space. Exhibition galleries and artists’ studios can be opened out onto the urban setting of the island, allowing residents, shoppers, business people, and visitors access to art that is both peripheral and direct, so that interaction can be both spontaneous and intentional.

Contemporary art can be provocative, playful, and profound. It offers windows into the realms of fantasy and reality and opens doors to exploration. At the heart of the Museum Plaza is a new center for contemporary art , a non-profit, non-collecting, unconventional institution located on levels 24 and 25. Its mission: create a flexible yet outspoken organization that presents the most stimulating work by well-known and emerging artists. Collaborating with other arts organizations in the region and beyond, the center will emphasize the interdisciplinary, presenting painting, sculpture, photography, performance, installation art, video and other new, technology-based media, as well as exhibitions and programs on architecture and design.

With art at its core, Museum Plaza will radiate an invigorating cultural energy, one with the power to captivate audiences from all walks of life and from everywhere – all the time.
